With SecurEmail, KPMG employees can encrypt messages and their attachments so that they can be sent securely to external recipients. The recipient can also reply to messages using this secure connectivity and add attachments. Standardized encryption methods are available to secure messages. Encryption can occur at the point of transfer from the KPMG network or from the sender's computer to the recipient's computer.
Deployed encryption methods are:
In addition to encryption of message content, the system provides the option of adding a digital signature to the message. The signature is commensurate with a personal signature. In this way the recipient can be certain that the email is indeed from you and has not been altered during transmission.
KPMG AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft provides SecurEmail to its employees at no charge. All KPMG employees can use the system to secure communication with external recipients.
Generally, the recipient does not need to install hardware or software to use the system. The only requirement for receipt of an encrypted message via the webmail function is internet access via a web browser. Many firms have central systems to enable the use of S/MIME and PGP encrypted messages to be directly forwarded to the recipient's mailbox. Please refer to your IT department.
